"I am dedicated to providing the voice for your needs , whether that is for marketing, management training, or audio literature"

Born in 1973, Philip was educated at Eastbourne College followed by The University of Kent at Canterbury, where he graduated with a Second Class Honours Degree in History. He was the son of an artist and grew up in East Sussex. After a few years working in London, including as a business events organiser in the banking and finance sector, he joined Sussex Police and worked for nearly twenty five years in their Communications Department. He says:
“I was responsible for the deployment of officers and acted as a verbal conduit for them while they attended incidents by controlling the radio channels and passing information. For the purposes of this I had to keep my voice bland and my language succinct, sometimes injecting a hint of urgency or impatience, in order to crack the whip or get a point across. I had a good clear voice, but when I first considered a new career as a Voice Artist I realised I needed to do something a bit different with it. So I was lucky enough to be able to engage the services of a top drama coach, who taught me how to act a part and become a character, any character I wished to be in fact. Of course, like any skilled profession, you never stop learning and evolving, it is an ongoing process and I always enjoy new challenges”
In 2003 Philip was one of a small number of volunteers who were persuaded to join the crew of a newly fledged community radio station called Uckfield FM where he would broadcast local news and travel reports in his spare time until 2007.
“It was an experience but fun, when it first began we were in a makeshift studio above the Uckfield Cinema, not like the smart high-tech premises they now have. They wanted my voice and I seemed to have a knack for being fluent and not making mistakes, they also seemed to think that I sounded professional (even though I wasn’t) but I suppose they were right, I did. All this experience in front of a microphone later fed into my decision to become a Voice Artist”.
Philip now lives near Lewes in East Sussex, on the very edge of the South Downs National Park for which he once sat as an authority member for a four year term.
“I love The South Downs, when I have finished a long day in the studio, to look out on that landscape and to walk it, with it’s changing lighting, weather, and moods is the perfect balm”
